Hybrid manicure has gained popularity due to its durability, shine, and variety of colors. However, a key element that can determine the final effect and longevity is the primer. Choosing the right primer for hybrid nails is not just a matter of aesthetics, but above all, the health and condition of our nails. So how do you choose the right product to enjoy beautiful nails for a long time?

What is a primer and why is it important?

A primer is a product used on nails before applying hybrid polish. Its main task is to prepare the nail plate for the application of the base, ensuring better adhesion. It works similarly to makeup primer – creating a layer that helps keep subsequent products in place. Without the right primer, even the best hybrid polish may not last as long as expected. Primer also helps prevent chipping and lifting of the polish, which is a common problem for oily or brittle nails.

      Types of primers

There are different types of primers available on the market, which can be divided into two main groups: acid primers and non-acid primers. Which one to choose?

      1. Acid primer: Contains methacrylic acid, which acts as a mild corrosive, degreasing and preparing the nail plate. It is especially recommended for people with oily nails. However, its use requires caution – it is not recommended for people with sensitive skin around the nails.

      2. Non-acid primer: Based on milder ingredients that do not irritate the skin. It is ideal for people with sensitive nails. It does not degrease the plate as intensively as an acid primer but is safer for the skin.

How to match the primer to the type of nails?

Each of us has a different type of nails, which affects how long the hybrid manicure will last. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to a few key aspects:

Oily nails: If your nails become oily quickly, an acid primer may be the ideal solution. It will help increase the adhesion of the base and polish.

Dry and brittle nails: In this case, a non-acid primer will work better. It will not further dry out the nail plate, protecting it from damage.

Normal nails: You’re lucky! You can choose either an acid or non-acid primer, depending on your preferences and available products.

      Our experiences with primers

At Easy Nails, we know from experience that choosing the right primer is often a matter of trial and error. Each nail plate reacts differently to various products. We personally recommend starting with non-acid primers, especially if you are a novice in the world of hybrids. In our offer, you will find a wide range of primers that have been tested by our team on various types of nails.

      How to apply primer?

Applying a primer for hybrids is simple but requires precision. Here are a few steps to follow:

      1. Preparing the nails: Make sure the nails are clean and dry. Remove any remnants of old polish and degrease the plate.

      2. Applying the primer: Use a brush to apply a thin layer of primer over the entire surface of the nail. Avoid contact with the skin around the nails.

      3. Waiting: Allow the primer to dry naturally. Some primers require curing in a UV/LED lamp, but most dry in the air within a few seconds.

      4. Continuing the manicure: After the primer dries, you can proceed with applying the base and subsequent layers of hybrid polish.

In the opinion of Easy Nails

Choosing the right primer for hybrid manicure is key to the durability and aesthetics of our nails. Remember that each nail plate is different and requires an individual approach. Let’s experiment, test, and find the perfect products for ourselves. And you, which primer do you choose? What is your opinion on this topic? Share your experiences with us in the comments!
