When was the last time we took a moment to care for our feet? We often forget how important it is to take care of them until problems arise, such as dryness, cracks, or ingrown nails. Today, we want to encourage you to spend some time on a home pedicure. Without leaving home, we can achieve results that rival professional treatments in beauty salons. How to do it? We will guide you step by step through the entire process.

      Preparation for pedicure

Before we start, it’s worth gathering all the necessary accessories. You will need: warm water, bath salt or essential oil, scrub, file, nail scissors, clippers, cuticle sticks, and your favorite moisturizing foot cream. It’s also good to prepare a comfortable place where we can relax, such as in the bathroom or by your favorite chair. Creating a cozy atmosphere will certainly make the time spent on care more pleasant.

      Foot bath

The first step is a foot bath, which will allow us to soften the skin and prepare it for further treatments. In a small bowl or tub with warm water, add a handful of bath salt or a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Soak your feet for 10-15 minutes. This is a perfect moment for relaxation, listening to music, or reading a few pages of a book.

      Scrub and removing calloused skin

After the bath, it’s time for a scrub. We can use a ready-made product or prepare our own, for example, by mixing sugar with olive oil. With gentle, circular motions, massage the feet, focusing on the heels and toes. This will remove dead skin, leaving the skin smooth and soft.

Next, if we have a problem with calloused skin, we can use a special file or pumice stone. However, it’s important not to overdo the pressure to avoid irritating the skin.

      Nail care

Now we can move on to nail care. Cut them with scissors or clippers, giving them the desired shape. It’s best to cut nails straight to avoid the problem of ingrown nails. Then use a file to smooth the edges.

The next step is to push back the cuticles. For this, use a stick, gently pushing back the cuticles around the nails. If they are very calloused, we can gently cut them with clippers, but it’s important to do this carefully to avoid damaging the skin.

      Moisturizing and relaxation

After finishing nail care, it’s time to moisturize the feet. Choose a cream that suits your needs – whether moisturizing, nourishing, or regenerating. Massage it thoroughly, paying special attention to the heels and toes. We can also put on cotton socks, which will help the cream absorb better.

Is it worth using nail polish?

Finally, optionally, we can apply nail polish. This is an excellent way to add color and shine to our feet. Before applying the polish, it’s worth using a base coat to protect the nails from discoloration. Then apply two layers of the chosen color and finish with a top coat to extend the manicure’s durability.
