      French Manicure

Despite the fact that French manicure has been a regular visitor to the world’s salons for several decades, many people have different associations with it. Some see with their eyes exaggeratedly dressed ladies nervously tapping long acrylic nails with unnaturally thick white free edge sharply contrasting with pinkish base. For others, on the contrary, it is associated with young girls going to a dance. The reality turns out to be a little different.

      About French

In more than a few words about French

French manicure in the field of nail design is like a little black in fashion – a timeless classic. It is based on giving delicate shades of beige-pink to the nail plate and accentuating the tips in white. Nail styling can be done either with classic lacquers or hybrid. The advantage of choosing the second method is that the polish should remain on the nails for up to up to two weeks.

Why, despite its apparent simplicity, after so many years it continues to conquer the hearts of modern women? It is because of its appearance that French manicure is a universal manicure – for teenagers, young girls and mature women. French passes the test in almost every situation – not only every day at work, school, but also for special meetings that require a little elegance. What’s more, the aesthetics and naturalness of this nail design contributes to the fact that many young ladies decide to have a French manicure on their wedding day.

      The origins of French manicure

When you don't know what's going on, it's all about manicures

The origins of French manicure are somewhat of an enigma in themselves. We find those claiming that it first first appeared in French salons as early as the 19th century or that in the 1930s, thanks to Maksymilian Faktorowicz, a Polish entrepreneur and founder of Max Factor & Company, who, using the with the help of delicate styling, who tried to balance the excessively moisturized hands of the Parisian elite.

However, the enduring fame of the French manicure can be attributed to none other than Orly brand founder Jeff Pink. The idea for this “look” stems mainly from the need of Hollywood actors to style their nails to allow constant closet changes. Why then do we talk about French manicure and not American? For one prosaic reason – the idea was quickly seized and colloquially speaking “promoted” by models participating in Paris fashion shows.

French manicure - step by step

For a French manicure, the nails are prepared in much the same way as for any other manicure. After removing the old polish, the plate is given a shape corresponding to the client’s preferences and the cuticles are removed or cut. On the degreased nail plate we apply a base coat and at least two layers of polish, usually different shades of nude and soft pink. Then we paint the smile line – the white free edge of the nail, which we protect with a top coat.

      How about a little avant-garde…

French is a classic ornament, which can be done in hundreds of ways. Precisely because of the possibilities of playing with the styling, not only lovers of subtlety can be tempted by it, but also those customers who prefer more crazy decorations. A different color of the nail plate than beige, a smile line in various colors of the rainbow or a bling bling effect? We’re all for it.

Two sides of the French coin

French manicure is a classic at its best. It is a decoration for every occasion for women regardless of their age. It looks phenomenal on almost any type of nail and with any complexion.

Unfortunately, however, there must be a “but”. It is discouraged to perform french on split nails, because then the style will not last long enough on the nails. In the case of very short, wide or bitten nails, outlining the smile line borders on the miraculous and the achieved effect will not be satisfactory and even unnatural.
