Housekeeping and cooking can’t be avoided, unfortunately, but nails don’t like them. However, it is possible to prevent horn plates from damage when restoring order and beauty indoors or outdoors. We suggest how to clean wisely so that nails are not only saved, but not even damaged.
Housekeeping and cooking sometimes require strength, cleverness or precision. Nails come in handy in any of these situations. However, if you don’t want washing windows or scrubbing a frying pan to end up with weeks of nail plate regeneration, take care of your nails in every possible way. There are quite a few of them. Here they are:
- Cleaning with rubber gloves – stock up on two types of gloves: silicone gloves, which are thin, and thick gloves with a padded interior. You can use the former for wet or dry work that requires precision, such as cleaning hard-to-reach crevices, or for polishing or buffing small parts with surfactants, polishes or dyes. Thick rubber gloves are excellent for all wet work, such as washing dishes, washing windows or washing cars. Important: when buying thick gloves, choose those in which the part covering the forearm is long – then the probability that water will get inside this protective accessory is small. Spray gloves are also available commercially.
- If you can’t use gloves for cleaning work or don’t have them, cover the skin of your hands and nails with a layer of protective cream or preparation with glycerin. This will at least partially protect the plate from drying and damage. It’s a good idea to massage the cream into the skin of your hands and nails before any household work – except for food processing (unless, for example, you want to eat a salad with a tomato that smells like a soapbox ;-)). Also, don’t apply the cream immediately before putting on gloves – you’ll make this activity so difficult that you may want to give up using gloves altogether. Pat the cream into your hands and nails, let it absorb properly, and only then apply the gloves.
- Plan your cleaning and cooking and do your housework in time for your manicure application. If your nails are already covered with polish of any kind, it is mandatory to wear gloves to work (or delegate the “wet job” to others). Avoid as much as possible contact of nails decorated with hybrid, classic or vinylux manicures with any cleansers.
And what about after cleaning? Well-deserved relaxation for sure, but remember that it’s also due to your hands and nails. If you’re going to relax, picturesquely stretching your body on the couch, or you’ll be relaxing sitting in front of the TV, take a tube or jar of nourishing, regenerating, moisturizing cream to accompany you. Massage a fairly thick layer into the skin of your hands, and when the cream is absorbed, apply another portion and massage in as well. You can use the same procedure at night. To further increase the effectiveness of cosmetic preparations on the skin of the hands and nails, apply cotton gloves at night.
