Nail care is a topic that has enjoyed unwavering interest for years. Although modern nail styling methods such as hybrids or gels are available on the market, the classic traditional manicure still has its loyal followers. Why? Because it is not only a way to have well-groomed hands but also a moment of relaxation and unwinding. I invite you to discover step by step how to take care of your nails in a traditional way.
Preparation for Manicure
Before starting the actual manicure, it is worth preparing all the necessary tools. You will need: a nail file, cuticle nippers, a wooden or metal stick for pushing back cuticles, a nail buffer, a bowl of warm water, cuticle oil, and hand cream. Once everything is at hand, we can proceed.
The first step is to remove any remnants of old polish. We use a gentle acetone-free remover that won’t dry out the nail plate. Next, we proceed to file the nails. Classic manicure is primarily about naturalness, so it’s worth giving the nails a natural shape – preferably oval or slightly rounded at the ends. Of course, if you prefer a different shape, you can easily adjust it to your preferences.
Cuticle Care
After shaping the nails, it’s time for cuticle care. For this purpose, prepare a bowl of warm water and soak your hands in it for a few minutes. This will make the cuticles soft and easier to remove. Then, using a stick, gently push back the cuticles. If they are too long, you can trim them with nippers. It’s important to do this carefully to avoid damaging the skin.
Polishing and Moisturizing
Once the cuticles are taken care of, we proceed to polish the nail plate. A buffer will help smooth the surface of the nail, giving it a natural shine. It’s worth polishing gently to avoid damaging the plate. Then apply oil to the cuticles and nails, gently massaging it into the skin. This is an excellent way to moisturize and nourish the cuticles and nails.
Nail Painting
After moisturizing, we move on to painting the nails. Classic manicure is primarily about subdued colors, such as beiges, pinks, or classic red. Before applying the polish, it’s worth using a base coat to protect the nails from discoloration. Then apply two coats of the chosen polish, and finally a top coat to extend the manicure’s durability and give it a beautiful shine.
Relaxation and Unwinding
Traditional manicure is not just about nail care but also a moment of relaxation. It’s worth creating the right atmosphere – play your favorite music, light a scented candle. It’s a perfect moment to unwind after a hard day and dedicate a moment just for yourself.
Advantages of Traditional Manicure
Traditional manicure has many advantages. It is gentle on the nails, not burdening them with chemical preparations, as is the case with hybrids or gels. It gives a natural effect that suits any occasion. It can be performed regularly without the risk of damaging the nail plate. Moreover, it’s also an excellent way to learn self-discipline and patience – as it requires precision and accuracy.
